In addition, the national standard GB/T 23447-2023 "Sanitary Ware – Shower Heads" came into effect on March 1, 2024. Incorporating actual usage needs, this standard specifies performance requirements-such as sealing, anti-siphonage, tensile strength, and temperature drop-aiming to further enhance shower head product quality and the consumer user experience.
According to a notice jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Water Resources, and the State Administration for Market Regulation, water efficiency labeling for shower units is implemented in accordance with the mandatory national standard GB 28378-2019 "Minimum Allowable Values of Water Efficiency and Water Efficiency Grades for Shower Units." This standard specifies water efficiency grades, technical requirements, and test methods for shower units (including shower heads or shower head assemblies). It applies to shower units installed at the terminals of cold and hot water supply lines within buildings, operating at a nominal pressure (static pressure) of no more than 1.0 MPa and a medium temperature between 4°C and 90°C; however, it does not apply to shower units with built-in heating devices or thermostatic shower units.
